Vili Lehdonvirta

In the early time of the disappearance of Satoshi, Vili Lehdonvirta, a Finnish professor, was one of the early suspects. As of 2011, due to the different theories about who Satoshi could be, it caused a setback because of so many leads to follow. The Finish professor is now an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford.

To debunk the proposition of him being Satoshi, he said had no cryptography knowledge and his C++ programming was rudimentary. Recently, he published an article with the title “Bitcoin isn’t a currency — and unless it becomes one it could be worthless.”

Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto

He is the most suspected Satoshi because of his Japanese origin, and because of his name, Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto. Professionally, he is a physicist and a systems engineer based in California, USA.

At one point, Dorian released an official statement debunking the rumors of him being the brain and creator of Bitcoin. Regardless, he is well known in the crypto society; Dorian Nakamoto gets invites steadily to attend blockchain conferences.

Craig Wright

This man has desired greatly to be Satoshi since 2016. He has always been there since the creation of Bitcoin, creating and trying to convince people he is Satoshi. Craig Steven Wright is well known in the crypto society, probably with a lot of controversial cases surrounding him.

Unlike other supposed Satoshis, he has always laid claim to the title of “Satoshi Nakamoto” and the creation of Bitcoin. To prove his claim, many leading developers and crypto personalities have demanded he provide sufficient evidence to convince them beyond any reasonable doubt but the reverse is the case; he has not been able to provide concrete evidence.

Hal Finney

Hal is one of the earliest cryptographers. Before Bitcoin’s existence, he had been involved in cryptography. He has been an active member of the Bitcoin community since 2009. In addition, he received Bitcoin’s white paper because he was listed on the mailing list. On 12th January 2009, Hal Finney received a Bitcoin transaction from Satoshi. This was the first Bitcoin transaction.

Apart from his writing style bearing a close resemblance to that of Satoshi in the Bitcoin white paper, he claimed he was among those who tested Bitcoin. All the speculations about him being Satoshi were disproved when he presented a real version of transcripts of his email conversations with Satoshi.

Dave Kleiman

According to accusations, Kleiman is said to be a group member of the Satoshi Nakamoto group. He is not alone. There are also claims that the supposed Satoshi, Craig Wright, and Phil Wilson are in his group. Dave’s claim was short-lived because he died in 2013.

An active cryptographer, it was expected that he would be a member of the mailing list. So, he was part of the early group of people who knew about Bitcoin when Satoshi announced it on October 30, 2008.

Nick Szabo

He is a highly suspected personality partly because he has strong roots in computer science. In addition, it might be because he said he would create a live version of “Bit Gold’. This live version was supposed to be revealed a few months later.

Nicks’s numerous posts fit the Satoshi profile. Szabo debunked the rumors of him being Satoshi in an email in July 2014. He wrote, “Thanks for letting me know. I’m afraid you got it wrong, doxing me as Satoshi, But I’m used to it.”

Gavin Andersen

He has a strong personality. Starting from when the mysterious Satoshi handed over everything in regards to Bitcoin for him to oversee. He is a Massachusetts-based software developer who has been involved in the development of products for the bitcoin market since its creation in 2010.

There are thoughts of both Gavin and Satoshi being the same person. Stylometry shows that Andresen’s writing closely resembles Satoshi’s more than others. In addition, Gavin was the first to create a Bitcoin faucet in 2010. This faucet dispensed 5 BTC to anyone who completed a captcha when visiting the site. Enough reason for him to be Satoshi?

Sergey Nazarov

Sergey is a strong suspect; he is a New York University Philosophy & Management graduate and has a Bachelor of Arts degree. But more importantly, he is the CEO of Chainlink, the leading blockchain middleware company. During an interview, he accidentally divulged that he has been in the cryptocurrency world, working for the blockchain industry for over 10 years. This blundering was made during one of his interviews with Ben Chan, the VP of Engineering for Chainlink.

Another theory that proves Sergey Nazarov as Satoshi is the initials of both names. That is, Sergey Nazarov (SN) = Satoshi Nakamoto (SN) theory. According to an investigation, he bought the domain name, smartcontract.com. Six days after buying the domain name on October 25th, 2008, Satoshi came out with the first version of the bitcoin white paper.

Adam Back

Adam is an active cryptographer and cypherpunk. Currently, the British-born cryptographer is the CEO of Blockstream. He co-founded the company in 2014. The Financial Times dropped rumors of him being Satoshi in 2016. Probably because he was listed in Satoshi’s first mailing list.

BarelySociable, a youtube channel created a conspiracy to prove why Adam Back was Satoshi Nakamoto. Every accusation was duly denied by Adam, stating firmly that he is not Satoshi.

Bram Cohen

Bram shares the same date of birth with Satoshi who listed 1975 as his year. Bram Cohen has actively used the word “bits” long before Satoshi’s Bitcoin and is the creator of BitTorrent. The creator once ran a site called Bitconjurer.org. On this website, he was in communication with the creator of Hashcash, which inspired Bitcoin. Cohen’s prolific blog posts collided with the supposed time Bitcoin was in creation.

From his interactions online, he shares similarities to Satoshi, in areas like anonymity. So, there is a great likelihood he is Satoshi Nakamoto.
